Live from COSUGI: Day 1

This week, Jane Herb, collectionHQ’s Implementation and ILS Specialist, shares her journal from the COSUGI 2015 Conference in Portland, OR.

Having a great time so far at the SirsiDynix Users Group Meeting here in Portland, Oregon!  It’s just a short 45 miles from my home, so it’s practically in my back yard.  The exhibits opened this morning, and many collectionHQ customers have stopped by to chat.  Migell Acosta walked by, and since I used to work with him (in my previous job) when he was at the Santa Monica Public Library, it was fun to be able to say hello.  He’s been at the County of Los Angeles Public Library for many years now, and they’re a long-time collectionHQ library.  We’ll be talking soon about how they can optimize their subscription by utilizing the new SirsiDynix custom reports for automating their data extraction and delivery process.

Janet Horne from the Vancouver Public Library came by our booth, and she’s very eager to get started with our just-released scheduling tools. I was happy to meet Topher Schlatter from the Allen County Public Library. He and I partnered together a few months back to set up their new Symphony custom reports. The exhibitors were invited to join the attendees for lunch—much appreciated! I was lucky enough to get to sit next to David Slater and Christina Brodeur from the Old Colony Library Network in Braintree, Massachusetts. We just happen to be working on optimizing Thomas Crane Public Library’s instance of collectionHQ, so it was nice to put faces with names. Angie Strait, COSUGI chair, from Cabell County, West Virginia, came through the exhibits and kindly extended a personal invitation to the Chair’s Reception this evening. It’s been an eventful day, and we’re happy to be here!
